SSG Bagge
by Chaplain Andrews on June 30, 2006
I saw a story on the front page of the Stars and Stripes yesterday that really got me excited. There was a picture of SSG Christian Bagge running with President Bush. Regardless of your politics, this is a remarkable story and an example of what Americans are made of. This Staff Sergeant was injured by an IED. When visited by the President in January, he told the President; “I want to run with you.â€Â Bagge was still bedridden, going through therapy, but still on his back. Six months later, he is running at the White House with the President of the
United States. He was running! That is absolutely amazing.
This is an example of the kind of people that we have in
America. These are the same type of people that won World War II, the same type of people that worked through the Great Depression, as well as, every victory past, present, and future. This is also a great example of the soldiers that I see everyday, putting their all into serving the people of
United States. It was good to see the spirit of this soldier make the front page–I pray that the Stars and Stripes wasn’t the only paper that put him on the front page, because he deserves it.
Congratulations SSG Bagge! HOOAH!
