We had dinner at some friend’s house last night and I enjoyed a wonderful plate of Spaghetti.
I don’t talk food much, but this was incredible. Usually, Monica fixes Baked Spaghetti for me–as she did soon after I got home. Baked Spaghetti has a wonderful taste as well as quick to eat, cut up, and easy for Monica to make (with three kids to take care of quick and easy is always good). The dish we had last night was regular Spaghetti with freshly cooked noodles topped with sauce. The meat sauce was a perfect blend of tomato, meat, and the various spices to make the dish exquisite.
OK, so you may say; “It was just a plate of Spaghetti.” It is just not that simple. Spaghetti is my favorite food–along with Pizza, I can never decide which one is better. The sauce from her recipee was magnificent–I believe it is all about the sauce.
While I didn’t think of it at the time, it was the first plate of “real Spaghetti” that I have had since I returned from Iraq. The DFAC Spaghetti is a mass produced batch of greasy meat mixed in tomato sauce. I love Spaghetti–so I got used to it. But, to have a nice slow meal with friends was refreshing.
However, I must amend what I said above; good spaghetti is all about the sauce, but it is also about the friends.

Yum! I love spaghetti. Growing up we canned our own green beans every year (to the tune of 300-400 quarts for our large family) and we always had home-canned green beans with our spaghetti… YUM.
